Exploring Wax Resist Painting and Revisiting Spin Art

During the first half of our session this week the toddlers had lots of fun experimenting with wax resist painting. To begin with they had a massive piece of paper rolled out on the floor to have fun covering! Although they loved uncovering ‘magic pictures’ with the paint the toddlers enjoyed experimenting with colour mixing more.
After we finished the big picture a couple of the toddlers had fun making under water pictures with blue watercolour paint and the wax crayons. The fish were named Nemo and Freddie.

During the last part of todays session we spontaneously decided to make spin paintings again and experiment with mixing the colours. We experimented with mixing by trying spin the plates for longer, pressing two plates together and using brushes on the spin paintings to drag wet paint from one section to another.

Next week we are going to make some animal masks!
