Textured Beach Paintings

This week our Wednesday and Thursday Groups had lots of fun exploring what textures they can create with paint. They used different tools such as palette knives, feathers, four different sponges, pom-poms, sand, plastic needles, forks, cardboard, string and buttons.
The most popular tools were the sponges and palette knives. The children quickly realised they could further alter texture by changing how they used a particular tool, such as dabbing vs scrapping a sponge along the paper.
Next week we will continue exploring the idea of texture by creating some mixed media art.
